Geology

The Geology group meets on the second Wednesday of each month at Merlin’s Bridge Community Centre at 10.30am. We are a friendly, vibrant group and new members are most welcome.

We discuss a range of topics illustrated by power point images and geological specimens. Topics include the geological history of Britain; plate tectonics, earthquakes, volcanoes, geological structures, minerals and fossils.

We also have three field trips per year mainly to coastal locations in Pembrokeshire that illustrate geological phenomena; for example we have been to Freshwater West (Old Red Sandstone), Lydstep Headland (Carboniferous limestone) and St David’s Head (Gabbro intrusion).

Here is the geology group at Freshwater West.
