Haverfordwest Breathe Easy Group aims to help local residents this World COPD Day

Breathe Easy Haverfordwest meeting on the 4th Tuesday of the month – currently in the Green Room at the Leisure Centre Haverfordwest.  there will be no meeting in December. Sufferers and.or carers most welcome.

Breathe Easy Haverfordwest – the British Lung Foundation (BLF) support group for local people affected by lung disease – will be holding an awareness stand at the following places:

Monday 17th November Withybush Hospital main entrance hall
Tuesday 18th November: Narberth Health Centre
Wednesday 19th November: Winch Lane Surgery (World COPD Day)
Friday 20th November: Crymych Health Centre

This coincides with World COPD Day (19 November 2014), the theme of which is ‘Living with COPD’ (#LiveCOPD on Twitter): encouraging people affected by COPD to take control of the disease and live fuller, more active lives.

COPD incorporates the conditions previously known as emphysema and chronic bronchitis. It kills around 30,000 a year in the UK – more than any type of cancer other than lung cancer – and can severely affect your quality of life. However, of the estimated three million people living with COPD in this country, over two million people remain undiagnosed, without the support and treatment needed to help them manage the condition.

The awareness stand coincides with the BLF’s launch of the first ever nationally available ‘COPD Patient Passport’, designed to help COPD patients ensure they are getting the best possible care and managing their condition as effectively as possible. An interactive online version of the Patient Passport will additionally generate a personalised report for people to print out and discuss with their doctor.
