Over forty walkers departed for the Glen in Merlin's Bridge for a pleasant walk, led by Bob and Carol Matthews, that took in Pembrokeshire lanes and fields to the the south of Haverfordwest.  A wander along the western bank of the Cleddau, and returning via a cottage where Captain John Treasure Jones spent his early years.  Jones, a famous son of Haverfordwest who distinguished career was crowned by commanding the Queen Elizabeth & the Queen Mary. He has been described as one of the 20th century's most distinguished mariners, in war and in peacetime. His forebears were men of the sea, who had captained sailing ships, and he elected to follow in their tradition.

We also trekked through the ruins of one of the most famous residence (now an imposing ruin) in Pembrokeshire – Haroldston House

Our walk was followed by another excellent meal at the Glen Hotel where Ken offered a well deserved vote of thank to Bob & Carol our leaders.
