Hi all- a very enjoyable, pleasant and undulating walk of approximately 3.1 miles was enjoyed by 35 U3A Walkers today. The Short Walk Group met at the Fortunes Frolic car park and progressed past Higgin’s Well house on the left and then past Higgin’s Well itself on the right which is reputed to have never dried up. The river views were very tranquil as the walk progressed via the kissing gate to the open field towards the Church. The weather was dry and sunny throughout which generated a few flushes as the group climbed up towards St. Ishmael’s Church & churchyard. After a short road section the route returned via grassy and wooded pathways to return to the Cleddau river bank. Returning to the car park it was a short walk under the Freeman’s Way bypass and beside the river to cross into the Bristol Trader Public House and restaurant. A very welcome lunch was taken there which was much appreciated by the walkers and a vote of thanks to Ian and Rosemary Battelley as Walk leaders was proposed by Wendy Proctor which was warmly supported by the walkers .
