Hi all- 26 walkers met for a Short Walk at Scolton Manor today and were rewarded with improving weather conditions with regular glimpses of sunshine at the latter end of the walk. The typically 2.5 mile walk, depending which route you took!, was mainly over sealed or made up surfaces but the occasional and short ventures into the wooded area was a little sticky in patches following the recent atrocious wet conditions. The weather impacts could also be seen in the many, often well-established, fallen trees around the park and woodland area which was the obvious consequence of the recent gale force winds. Following the park walk there was a very interesting visit to Scolton Manor House to view the representation of the house in Victorian times which generated much attention and questioning of House attendants. A most welcome lunch was taken in the adjoining Scolton Café where the group were joined by Evelyn and Dave Gwynn who hopes to be back walking in the near future. Islwyn Bevan was also welcomed back to the walking group after an extended lay off. Helen Lewis-John as walk leader was warmly thanked for the organisation of the days event.
