Hi all- an inch of rain falling in the previous twenty four hours did not dissuade approx. 26 walkers turning up for a U3A Short Walk today. The walkers set off under leaden skies, and not infrequent rain showers, along the now obsolete railway track that served the Armament Depot adjacent to Milford Pill. A brief visit to the swing bridge across the Pill entrance was just a prelude to a 3+ mile beach and lane walk up through Milford Woods and then returning to the Rath for a brief view of the recently erected commemorative memorial to people lost at a local refinery. Increasingly wet conditions did not dampen the walks enjoyment and a very welcome and warm lunch was enjoyed at the Harbourmaster Inn. Wendy Proctor as Short Walk Group leader gave a vote of thanks to the walk leaders Lou Bulmer and Val Rowland which was warmly supported by the attendees. Wendy mentioned that there was still a Short Walk date to be filled on the 2nd December ’13 if there are any volunteers. Attach a few photos for you…..
