Meeting 26th July Feedback 2: “Full Day Computer Workshop” 27th September

We discussed the arrangements for the proposed Computer Workshop to be held a Steynton Village Hall Computer Suite in September.  There are ten internet connected computers so we are working on the possibility that up to twenty members can participate.    A number of ideas for the days programme were discussed, as well as the impact of the wide range of computer skills represented by our members.

It was agreed that Geoff would try to devise a programme for the day that would suit this range of expertise and encourage members to help and support each other.  Other,  more focussed Workshops, might follow.

    Provisional arrangements:
09.15 – 09.45 Coffee, set up and choose meal if required
    09.45 – 11.00 Session One
    11.00 – 11.15 Break
    11.15 – 12.30 Session Two
12.30 – 13.45 Lunch (Hopefully at the Horse & Jockey)
    13.45 – 15.00 Session Three
    15.00 – 15.15 Break
    15.15 – 16.00 Final Session

PROVISIONAL COST: ?2.00 (Towards refreshments & room hire)  As this 1st Workshop is aimed principally at Computer Group Members – we will subsidise the room hire from our own funds.

    Sessions 1&2
Internet / efficient search techniques / Secure communications / email etiquette and techniques

    Sessions 3&4
Using Microsoft Office (or an equivalent), to create and publish a document.

Up to Thursday 13th September priority is given to U3A Computer Group Members who have attended Group Meetings and signed the register since October 2011.  Thereafter any spaces left can be filled by other interested Pembrokeshire U3A Members.

These arrangement are provisional and subject to comment and change.  If the day is a success, and others are willing to help, we may well put on further workshops in the future.
