Intro Note: Daphne Evemy is having one or two problems with her PC so I asked if it was OK to provide a quick note of this excellent visit on the Webpage with a few photos- and she concurred.
Nineteen U3A members had a conducted tour of the Chapel Bay Fort located just outside Angle on Wednesday 15th June. The design and obvious enormity of the forts construction in the late nineteenth century is impressive but when enhanced by the detailed, and often humorous, descriptions of the design and displayed military hardware by the owner ensured a most enjoyable visit which is to be highly recommended if a further opportunity arises. The driving force for the major restorations at the fort, and hopefully opening to the public of the fort/ artillery museum, is to pay a just and overdue recognition to the armed forces especially during World War 2. Many thanks was made from the party to Daphne and Reg for the organisational work.
Attached are a few “general” photographs since none were allowed to be taken in the Fort itself.
