Loneliness threatens the health of older people as much as obesity and smoking according to campaigners.
We have secured funding from Age UK to gather the views and experiences of older people in Pembrokeshire and look at ways to address and overcome loneliness.
Jane Slade, Chief Officer says, ' This is a really useful piece of work that will help us shape the support we provide to ensure older people are helped to overcome loneliness in ways that work and endure. At Age Concern Pembrokeshire everything we do is aimed at helping older people regain and maintain independence but we can only do this by listening to what older people tell us they need and what works for them. This research gives us the opportunity to do just that'.
We would be extremely grateful if you would take 5 minutes to complete our questionnaire or give us a ring and we'll fill it in with you over the telephone. Please also distribute to family and friends over the age of 50 as we are aiming for 300 completed responses by the end of the month.
Your views and experiences are extremely valuable and all responses will be kept in strictest confidence.
PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE LONELY AND ISOLATED YOURSELF – YOUR OWN EXPERIENCES AND HOW YOU OVERCOME AND AVOID LONELINESS ARE JUST AS VALUABLE TO OUR RESEARCH.
